George Takei of "Star Trek" fame is jumping to light speed(o.k. , that’s a "Star Wars" reference) as he becomes the latest gay star to take advantage of the California Supreme Court ruling to allow gay marriage, as he has announced that he will wed his long time partner, Gary Altman. "At long last, the barrier to full marriage rights for same-sex couples has been torn down." Takei said. Takei first came out in 2005 in order to talk against a veto by California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger of a same-sex marriage law. This follows in the recent footsteps of Ellen Degeneres, who also recently announced her plans to wed girlfriend Portia de Rossi due to the same Supreme Court ruling.
